Foreign body in trachea

Clinical:

  • A 12 years old girl
  • Had a pin at her lips to put on head scarf
  • Alleged accidentally swallowed it
Chest radiograph in PA and lateral views

Radiographic findings:

  • There is dense opaque linear foreign body seen (red arrows)
  • On frontal radiograph is seen overlying the distal trachea and on lateral view seems located within the tracheal lumen
  • No pneumoperitoneum or pneumomediastinum
  • No pleural effusion

Diagnosis: Foreign body in the trachea

Progress of patient:

  • Bronchoscopic removal of the foreign body was done
  • Uneventful recovery
